  • Something Fun For You. Maybe

Let’s get up a bit up close and personal as I tell you what I like to do for fun or to relax. First, you need a tab opened (or multiple) for Youtube (or another source of entertainment). Play a video of something you wanna watch or have as background noise. Next, you grab some plain paper, a notebook, pens, pencils and an eraser. After you have your video loaded and playing, you sit down with all your gathered things and alternate between drawing and writing (Doesn’t matter what you draw or write, It’s your own private down time, after all.).With three activities within grasp and before your own very eyes, you’ll be entertained for who knows how long!

    Drawing and Looping A Video

I, for one, love creating my own characters, the found-family trope, and a good song on repeat. Just imagine all the conversations you could create between your fictional characters. You can even do some healing by giving yourself the pep talk you never got in the form of your characters. Illustrate those scenes and give yourself a balm on old hurts. There’s a lot you can discover about yourself when you write and draw. Play some Bluey, too, while you’re at it. I absolutely love Bluey. Best show, ten out of ten would recommend. Go give Bluey a watch, too. Shove “Bluey” into that Youtube search engine, why don’t you? Give yourselves a taste of the clean graphics and well-written storyline.

Note: Not everyone enjoys or will enjoy these activities and Bluey. There are other activities on this blog. You can navigate there to view their recommendations.

When you find that you have time, take a break. Life’s too short to not do the very cheap non-expensive things you like doing in your downtime. There’s something out there, it might even become a hobby, just waiting for you to pick up and interact with. Embark on a journey to find something that brings you joy. You’ll even learn more about yourself, what you like and dislike. Just remember, stay safe, respect others, and you’ll be set to go.

  • Carrots, Your Skin, and More Carrots

Hey, y’alls want healthy and supple skin? Well, boy do I have the food for you. It’s called a carrot. Y’know, that vegetable we all kinda hated to eat as kids. They gave it to us raw, unseasoned, and it  had some weird aftertaste. But, that’s besides the point because the easy fix is to add heat and season them with spices and sauces. They taste so good that way.

I remember the first time I shredded my carrots with a manual grater and dropped it into a pan with oil to let it slowly cook. I then proceeded to forget about it, but luckily I had the heat so low. By the time I remembered the carrots, they turned to mush when I stirred them around. Thus, I slapped in some garlic, onion and curry powder. Then I added just the smallest dash of soy sauce. Lastly, I threw in some noodles I had made earlier and mixed it all up. Those were probably the best noodles I had ever made. Add in some sriracha, too. It tasted heavenly.

Alright, now that we’ve gotten “how to make carrots taste good” out of the way, we’ll discuss why carrots can aid you in achieving healthy and supple skin.

Note: Do not eat carrots if you are allergic to them. Do not try any of the mentioned spices and sauces if you are allergic to them. Do not have noodles if you are allergic to them. We all know what we are allergic to. Please eat responsibly, thank you.

Carrots are very high in beta carotene. Not only does Beta carotene protect your skin from the sun’s rays (a necessary component in preventing wrinkles), it also converts into vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is retinol, that thing we go crazy over because it keeps out skin tight and youthful. So, moving from beta carotene into vitamin A, the body benefits all over. You get healthy skin and the added bonuses of aiding your vision and eye health, your immune system, and mucous membranes.

Note: Do not over consume carrots or beta carotene. Anything in excess is bad for the body.

What more could you ask for? Healthy skin, and most importantly, a healthy body. It’s a two for one deal!

  • 3 Things to Do on a Relaxed Day

You finally got a day off work but have no idea what to do. Should you relax at home or embark on a more fun-filled activity outdoors?

Here are ideas on what to do on your day off.

    Pamper Yourself

Pamper yourself during your day off. You can do a spa day at home or book an appointment at a local spa.

Take a bubble bath, get a massage, deep condition your hair – the list is endless. Doing this will leave you relaxed and bring back your work mojo back.

    Go Hiking

If you like the outdoors, what better way to relax than reconnecting with nature?

Trekking down the hills, feeling the quiet breeze in the woods, and absorbing all you see can restore your soul.

You can challenge yourself to go hard on the hike if you don’t mind some muscle aches. But hiking doesn’t necessarily have to be exhausting to be fulfilling.

You can feel accomplished and relaxed by strolling around a local state park.

    Road Trip

Driving through the city is another of having a relaxed day away from home. A road trip is a great idea if it is too cold to walk around your neighborhood.

You can stroll past rolling pastures or drive to the mountains. You can also head to a town you have wished to relocate to and check out the neighborhood.

Make your favorite playlist as you drive, and let it take you away. You will feel relaxed and restored by the time you return home.

    Final Thoughts

Achieving a work-life balance is good for your overall wellbeing. That’s why you should take time off to have fun and relax.

These activities can help you forget the stress and anxiety you get from your workplace and personal life.

  • 3 Foods That Can Help with Beauty

Every person complains about their appearance at some point – wrinkles, acne, puffy eyes, name them.

When struggling with such problems, the first thing you think about is to visit a beauty counter for products. Yet, the solution could be in what you add to your grocery cart.

Try these three beauty foods for a natural glow and radiance.

    Watermelon

Your body cells need water to function well, and foods with high water content help keep you hydrated.

Two cups of cubed watermelon are equal to a cupful of water. That means a watermelon can hydrate your body and help retain skin elasticity.

But there is more to this tasty fruit. The vitamin C and beta-carotene in watermelon make it an excellent antioxidant that can eliminate free radicals in skin cells and reduce inflammation.

    Fatty Fish

Your body naturally produces coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10. This vitamin-like substance facilitates cell growth and eliminates free radicals that damage the skin.

Unfortunately, C0Q10 levels start to drop in your mid-30s. Stress and poor diet can also lower your CoQ10 levels.

But you can find plenty of it in fatty cold-water fish such as tuna, salmon, and herring. These foods can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles and smoothen skin texture.

    Green Tea

If you want smoother skin and oral health, swap your daily cup of coffee for green tea. Green tea contains polyphenols, an antioxidant found in tea levels.

Polyphenols help reduce the amount of sebum your body produces, which makes green tea a good option for treating acne.

They also prevent gum disease, leaving you feeling beautiful inside out.

    More Beauty Tips

A healthy diet helps care for the body inside out. But beauty comes from more than what you eat.

Ensure you get enough sleep, use good sunscreen, exercise, and avoid smoking.

  • Let’s Unwind

When it comes to unwinding, we all have our preferences on how we choose to relax after a long day or on any day. Personally, I enjoy getting my body moving. Not only is it beneficial for your cardiovascular health but it helps release endorphins, which help lift your mood and reduce stress. We spend a good amount of our day indoors and seated and that’s why I enjoy putting on my running shoes and heading towards a nearby park or running track, especially when the weather is just right. Going out for a walk or a light jog is a great way to spend time away from your devices as these can also contribute to our everyday stress. Taking a breath of fresh air and appreciating the world around you helps you feel a little more present, it helps you slow down. Just make sure to warm up beforehand!

Walking, jogging or running, you decide! It doesn’t matter which one of these you do, you’ll still manage to benefit physically and mentally from participating in this activity. Combined with a healthy diet, you may see that unwinding in this manner may assist with weight management and developing stronger muscles, if that happens to be your goal. Otherwise, your mind and emotions will repay you for unwinding in this manner by allowing you to improve your sleep and insomnia, if this is something you struggle with. If depression and anxiety are other wellness concerns, running or walking can also aide in reducing the symptoms of these mental stressors. In the end, it is up to you to choose an approach and enjoy the benefits. If I’m being honest, I wasn’t someone who enjoyed running or going out for walks until I directly noticed all of the positive impacts it had on my overall wellbeing and now it’s become one of my favorite activities!

  • The Magic of Avocado

    Health & Beauty Benefits

Avocado is more than just a delicious, creamy fruit that many individuals incorporate as a sweet or savory part of their meal and as a beauty and wellness blog, it is our duty to share why you should incorporate it into your own meals as well! Plump and elastic skin! Aside from following a skin care routine, you’ll want to know that consuming avocado can improve your facial elasticity and keeps it hydrated. Avocados are infamously known for being high in fiber, antioxidants and a healthy fat. High fiber fruits will aide in digestive health and regularity. The high levels of potassium present in this fruit will also aide in lowering blood pressure, cardiovascular inflammation, prevents cataracts and protects against UV light damage. Our bodies also process carotenoids found in avocado, turning them into vitamin A which is known to support healthy vision and a healthy immune system. For those who are pregnant, avocados may aide in preventing innate irregularities at birth.

    Ways to Eat Avocado

You might be wondering how you can begin to add this fruit to your everyday meals. It’s really quite simple. Due to its creamy and mild earthy flavor, it is extremely versatile and can be very easily included in your meals or even utilized as a substitute for foods like butter and mayonnaise. A favorite amongst avocado enthusiasts is of course the avocado toast! You can make your own variation of it depending on your preference. Mashed avocado is spread onto a slice of toast and usually topped with a poached egg, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Considering that avocado happens to be a fruit, it can be blended into smoothies too. Blend it with your favorite fruit or vegetable smoothie for that creamy texture and added health benefits. As someone who grew up eating avocados on pretty much a daily basis, I’ve learned that you can have avocado with anything, at any time, so long as you’re enjoying it!
